Dussehra, also called Vijayadashami, marks the triumph of dharma over adharma — Rama's victory over Ravana, and Durga's victory over Mahishasura. In 2026 it falls on October 10, closing the Sharad Navratri cycle on Dashami tithi.
Across India, Dussehra is treated as a powerful day to begin vehicles, tools, and ventures. The tradition of "Shastra Puja" / "Ayudha Puja" blesses instruments of work — from cars and bikes to laptops and shop shutters. Many families schedule vehicle delivery, business launches, or travel starts on this day because the Panchang symbolism is literally "victory".
From a decision lens: if you are buying a car, opening a shop, or signing a major contract around early October 2026, Dussehra is one of the year's culturally loudest green lights. Pair the festival energy with Abhijit Muhurat and avoid Rahu Kaal for the actual signing or first drive.
