Buying gold on the right Panchang day is believed to multiply its value and bring sustained prosperity to the household. The most famous gold-buying days in the Hindu calendar are Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras. Akshaya Tritiya (Tritiya of Shukla Paksha in Vaishakha month) is considered so auspicious that purchases made on this day are believed to grow indefinitely — "akshaya" literally means "imperishable." Dhanteras (Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha in Kartik month) is dedicated to Dhanvantari (divine physician) and Lakshmi. Beyond these special days, the Panchang factors for gold buying emphasize Nakshatras associated with wealth and stability: Pushya, Hasta, Shravana, Dhanishta, and Uttara Bhadrapada. Pushya Nakshatra falling on a Thursday (Guru Pushya Yoga) is considered one of the most powerful combinations for purchasing gold and precious items. Thursday and Friday are the most favorable weekdays — Jupiter governs wealth expansion while Venus governs luxury and precious metals. Saturday should generally be avoided for gold purchases. The Tithi should be from the auspicious set, with Purnima (full moon) being especially favorable as it represents fullness and completion. Shukla Paksha is strongly preferred.
