Marriage
Aaj Shaadi Ka Shubh Muhurat
Shaadi ka shubh muhurat 2026.
About This Activity
Marriage is perhaps the most carefully timed event in Hindu culture. Finding the right Vivah Muhurat is a process that families take extremely seriously, often consulting Panchang experts months in advance. The alignment of Panchang elements on the wedding day is believed to influence the harmony, prosperity, and longevity of the marital union.
The Nakshatra is the dominant factor in marriage timing. The most auspicious Nakshatras for marriage include Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Moola, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati. These are classified as "shubh" (auspicious) or "sadharan" (generally favorable) for Vivah Muhurat. Notably absent from this list are Bharani, Ardra, Ashlesha, Moola (debated), and Jyeshtha — these are considered challenging for marriages.
Tithi selection for weddings excludes a broader set than for other activities. Beyond the standard Rikta tithis, Ashtami (8th), Shashthi (6th) are avoided, and any tithi during Krishna Paksha receives extra scrutiny. Shukla Paksha is overwhelmingly preferred.
The concept of "Baaraat timing" is also Panchang-influenced — the groom's procession traditionally arrives during an auspicious time window, with the actual ceremony (pheras) timed to conclude before midnight when possible. Many pandits recommend starting the pheras during a favorable hora.
It is worth noting that modern muhurat selection often balances Panchang alignment with practical considerations like venue availability and guest travel. A day with a score of 70+ is generally considered very suitable for marriage.
