Aaj Yatra Ka Shubh Muhurat
Yatra ke liye shubh din.
About This Activity
Travel — whether for pilgrimage, business, or leisure — has its own set of Panchang guidelines in Hindu tradition. The goal is to ensure a safe journey, free from obstacles, delays, and mishaps.
The Nakshatra is a key factor for travel. Ashwini (the star of swift horses), Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha, and Revati are considered auspicious for journeys. Revati, the last Nakshatra, is particularly associated with safe travel — its presiding deity Pushan is the protector of travelers. Ashwini, as the Nakshatra of the celestial horsemen, naturally supports all forms of movement.
Unlike most other activities, travel does not strongly prefer Shukla Paksha over Krishna Paksha — safe travel can occur in both phases. However, Rikta tithis and Ashtami should be avoided as they may bring obstacles.
Direction matters in traditional travel planning. Certain weekdays are considered inauspicious for travel in specific directions. Monday and Saturday are generally less favorable for any travel. Tuesday is debated — some traditions avoid it while others accept it for eastward journeys.
The practical recommendation is to depart outside Rahu Kaal and ideally during a favorable hora. If a long journey must begin on a less-than-ideal day, starting with a small symbolic step outside the door during Abhijit Muhurat and then actually departing later is a common workaround.
Tips

- • Depart outside Rahu Kaal to avoid obstacles and delays.

- • Monday and Saturday are generally less favorable for travel.
